The Roots India

A Multidisciplinary Creative Lab

Where Art Finds New
Expression

We are building a creative ecosystem that nurtures artistic voices, encourages experimentation, and creates opportunities for artists to learn, collaborate, and thrive.

About The Roots India

Where Creativity Meets Possibility

The Roots India is a multidisciplinary creative lab that brings together performing arts, creative exploration, and experiential learning to create meaningful experiences that inspire people, strengthen connections, and open up new ways of thinking.

We believe that art is more than a form of expression. It is a powerful medium for learning, communication, self-discovery, and transformation. Through theatre, movement, storytelling, and other creative practices, we explore how art can move beyond conventional boundaries and become a catalyst for individual growth, collective learning, and social engagement.

Our work is rooted in curiosity, collaboration, and experimentation. We continuously explore new approaches to artistic practice, develop innovative creative processes, and create spaces where individuals can discover their potential, challenge familiar perspectives, and express themselves authentically.

Our Mission

To harness the transformative power of performing arts and creative exploration to inspire learning, nurture talent, and enable meaningful human connections.

Our Vision

To build a sustainable and inclusive creative ecosystem where artists can thrive, diverse art forms can evolve, and every individual has the opportunity to experience, explore, and express their creativity.

Our Purpose

We exist to create spaces where creativity can flourish without boundaries. By bringing artists, learners, institutions, organisations, and communities together, we aim to bridge the gap between artistic expression and everyday experiences.

Our Philosophy

5Es

At the heart of The Roots India lies our five-part philosophy: Explore, Experience, Experiment, Express, and Empower. These principles guide our approach to artistic development, creative learning, and community building.

1.

Explore

We encourage curiosity, invite new perspectives, and create opportunities to discover possibilities beyond the familiar.

2.

Experience

We believe meaningful learning happens through participation. By engaging people in immersive and experiential processes, we turn ideas into lived experiences.

3.

Experiment

We create room for exploration, risk-taking, and innovation, allowing new ideas and alternative approaches to emerge through practice.

4.

Express

We nurture spaces where individuals can communicate their ideas, emotions, identities, and perspectives with confidence and authenticity.

5.

Empower

We strive to equip artists and participants with the confidence, opportunities, and collaborative support they need to grow, create, and make a meaningful impact.

Building a Sustainable Ecosystem for Art and Artists

We envision a world where artists have the space, support, and opportunities to sustain their creative journeys, and where people from diverse backgrounds can experience the transformative potential of art.

Through creative collaborations, learning experiences, performance platforms, and initiatives that connect artists with communities and organisations, we work towards building a more connected and inclusive arts ecosystem.

Our purpose is to make art accessible, encourage meaningful exchange between disciplines, and create opportunities for creativity to thrive across different spaces and sectors.

At The Roots India, we believe creativity grows when it is explored, expression flourishes when it is encouraged, and art becomes transformative when it is shared.

Our Past Collaborators

Voices of Impact

Dikki Nanda Learning & Development, PwC

“In Learning & Development, the real measure of any initiative is how people apply it at work. What stood out to me was the shift in our team's confidence, communication and willingness to collaborate. Through performing arts, they learnt to listen better, think on their feet and approach challenges together. I've seen these changes reflected in our everyday interactions, and that's what makes this experience truly valuable.”

Himanshu Bhatia Partner, EY

“Stepping onto the stage as a partner was a new experience for me. It changed how I looked at team engagement. Through performing arts, we found a more interactive way to communicate ideas, encourage participation and connect beyond our professional roles. It brought a different energy to the team and showed me the value of learning through shared experiences.”

Mehak (Co-Founder) Absorbent Minds

3. I’ve always believed that a space is defined not merely by its architecture, but by the experiences it makes possible. The Roots India brings this philosophy to life through performing arts, immersive storytelling and thoughtfully curated performances, transforming familiar settings into imaginative worlds, from jungles to museums. Their work has opened new possibilities for cultural programming, audience engagement and building a creative community around our space.”

Lt. General Gurmit Singh Governor of Uttarakhand

“What I witnessed today at Modern School, Barakhamba Road, was far beyond a conventional theatrical performance. The Roots India portrayed the life of Colonel Sonam Wangchuk with such sincerity and emotional depth that, for a moment, it felt as though he himself stood before us. It was a rare and deeply moving experience, one that reminds us how powerfully theatre can bring stories of courage, patriotism and service to life.”

Prerna Gupta Parent, The Imagination Room

“What I appreciated most about Imagination Room by The Roots India was the emphasis on the journey rather than just the final performance. Over these two months, I saw my child become more confident, expressive and comfortable exploring new ideas. Watching the children express themselves so naturally during the final reflection showed just how meaningful this experience had been.”

Surabhi Dua Principal, Ramjas School, Pusa Road

“What stood out about The Roots India was their ability to make performing arts a meaningful part of the learning process. Over two months, we saw our students grow in confidence, discipline and expression, culminating in a beautifully conceived three-day musical production. It was a rewarding experience for the entire school community.”
